The aftermath of Aura’s defeat brings us to an emotional beginning where we see the fallen heroes and our triumphant trio. What TRACK of the OST is played at the beginning of the episode?» The musical piece in the introduction is the emotive, “Beyond the Journey’s End”. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWgrepzkTxo&list=RDgWgrepzkTxo&start_radio=1 WOULD YOU LOKE TO HEAR THE FULL LYRICS OF THE CHOIR IN THAT SONG (from 1:18)? (click to reveal) We'll meet another dangerous demon general in the first "action" arc of season 02. These creatures know how to use a sword… or even more? Guide me through the night, to lands beyond our sightWhere memories are written in lightFar beyond the end, where we may meet againOne last time, one last goodbye Though the skies may darken in lonelinessThough the dreamer's song is unsungI will lift my head from shadow and gaze across the bendBeyond the journey's end Won't you tell me a dear story, of the ones who called me friend?Won't you tell me of the dreams we had so we'll dream again? Falling stars will shine and bless our world divineLike lanterns in the moonlit skyWonders of the old and mystic light of goldCast your light on this dear soul Long forgotten legends may live once moreGive us hope when all is goneI will lift my head from shadow and gaze across the bendOne day with you my friend Beyond the journey's end In this Episode at timestamp [0:20] Praying for the Fallen Frieren has learned how humans honor their dead, as we saw in EP.04 at Eisens’ home: by praying for those fallen in battle in this case. This will not be the last time we see her doing exactly this, pay attention to this recurring kind of scenes. It’s already morning: so the elf receives her party members with an apparently cold “you took your time” (so Frieren style). In this Episode at timestamp [0:43] These soldiers are free at last! All the “puppets” that the Sage of Destruction controlled are now freed in the fields near the Graf’s town. No more controlling their corpses! OPENING greatest moments. Aura’s defeat is shown in a pair of scenes in the intro Look closely at minute 1:40 in this episode. We can see the swords and spears on the ground, then Aura in the reflection of Frieren’s staff —and how the elf mage releases all her mana into a colorful visual explosion! In this Episode at timestamp [2:50] Great quotes in Frieren: “I thank you for treating the long fallen heroes of the Northern Lands with such immense respect”—Graf Granat. In this Episode at timestamp [3:06] “Mister Himmel trained you well”. Well, in a sense Frieren did get “trained” by Himmel’s life lessons, right? In this Episode at timestamp [3:14] What is Aura saying in this silent flash and why does Fern not understand what her master refers to? See EP.09 at [8:18]» At that moments she disrespected Himmel by recalling how he was “long gone”, and there was no need to follow his advice anymore. But our elf could have reacted in anger o rbe pissed about Lady Aura suggesting that Himmel was wrong or “rotting in the ground”. And she’s happy to have honored Himmel's legacy: saying “that is a perfectly normal reaction”. (Being angry with her for not treating with respect the fallen heroes)But Fern does not understand what Frieren’s inner dialogue is, of course. In the last scene of season 1 we also see how Frieren’s thought’s about Himmel transpire to phrases that Fern and Stark don’t know where they’re coming from, like that last “It would be embarrassing when we meet again”. In this Episode at timestamp [3:28] Praising Fern and Stark! Here again comes the great Teacher and Mentor our elf is becoming. Praising their party members for their victory against the demons —she does not know Linie's name, which is consistent with NOT having met her really, being a lackey to Lügner also, a name she heard from the Graf on their first encounter. In this Episode at timestamp [3:35] At last some closure for the tormented Graf! They find his beloved son’s body on the battlefield! In this Episode at timestamp [4:437] THEORIES: Why does Frieren collect the fake Flamme’s grimoires again? The direct answer is probably as a curiosity and hobby, probably. She likes to compare the tales and false magic teachings to the reality she knew. Like in the case of Himmel, Frieren often compares the legends told with what she remembers. A way to keep her memories too…? But we have a wild theory:She is indeed looking for real grimoires from her master that contain magic secrets she never told her (like with the existence of Aureole). Figuring out which ones are fake, may help her discern them from the real ones that one day she might come across. In this Episode at timestamp [5:28] Manga vs. Anime Himmel and Eisen were going to be beheaded for their disrespect towards the King!No wonder Stark is fearing the worst when he sees the ax guy…The Flashback in the anime shows them with the executioner —same scene that appeared in EP.01 [4:52]— but not on a Guillotine! In this Episode at timestamp [6:55] “Whoooa… he's floating!” Such a funny phrase… Never seen a floating red-haired warrior kiddo? In this Episode at timestamp [6:59] Those hamburguerss… We are somewhat jealous of the size of hamburgers in this fantastic world…Again, what’s Stark drinking, orange juice? At least he’s not drinking it “in the middle of the night”. There are a lot of memes with this image, just make a Google search for memes and see what you find!! In this Episode at timestamp [7:00-8:25] All about the “Bliss” song by Milet that accompanies this beautiful montage! Let’s review some of the prettiest images and song info for this musical interlude with the original song: “Bliss” by Milet, the same singer of the ending theme. You can hear complete, it along a translation and original lyrics, in: https://youtu.be/m-6ClJsyVtw?si=xJtlflk6cLUaJPWT Great moments in this montage: Granat ponders what to do with his son's sword. Fern helps to reconstruct part of the wall, destroyed during their battle with the demons. Stark gets the healing to fully recover from the priest in the church, while Frieren browses the fake Flamme grimoire. Stark will always be traumatized by the idea of disrespecting the nobility, as we’ll see in the final episode (28) while talking to Denken. But at the same time he's always happy and playful around kids, have you noticed? Cats surround Fern while feeding her elf master. How come their clothes do not get wasted during the journey? It’s not magic, they have another identical set in the wonderful suitcase that is like “Doraemon’s pocket”! The barrier looks like Northern aurora-like lights: but it’s “only” the miracle of Flamme’s magic working 1,000 years after!! Another emotional ceremony to honor the fallen soldiers of the Granat region, lead us to the conclusion of this short version of “Bliss”. What themes does the song talk about? » Leaving behind the darkness and pain, to walk the path in front of you.» Gather your prayers, with emotions flowing in their hearts.» A blissful dream, when the clouds get apart and reveal the sun.» “In all the darkest days, I hope that you'll find your light“.Have a look at the complete translated lyrics here. Did you know…? There is a especial and complete version of the song “Bliss” with original drawings included in the Blu-ray version. TOHO has finally released it in Youtube and you can watch it here » 「Bliss」by Milet with original illustrations You can also find cover versions in English like this one from @IN0RIofficial » milet - "bliss" (from Frieren: Beyond Journey's End) | Full English Acoustic Cover In this Episode at timestamp [8:44] Leaving so soon…? The Graf is worried about them, as the Northern Plateau is known for the dangers it entails. This is the first time we hear about the certifications from the “Continental Magic Association” that has appeared about 50 years ago.In season 2 we’ll check if the Northern Plateau is as savage and menacing place, as everyone keeps saying during this first season. In this Episode at timestamp [9:22] What does it say on Fern’s certificate? “Let it be known that you have been recognized as a Third Class Mage by the Continental Magic Association […] by the regulations for Third Class Mage qualification.” (Some parts are too blurry to be read, though). Episode at timestamp [8:04] How old was Fern when she got this certificate? Probably 13.5 or 14 years old: she took the tests some time after Heiter’s death, in the Holy City of Strahl. As they acknowledge in EP.18 she’s “the youngest to get it with top marks”. In this Episode at timestamp [9:51] The Holy Emblem: old, but crucial The Holy emblem will be indeed “expired” in almost all people’s minds, except for Lernen (EP.18), who likely learned about this emblems from Serie herself. One of these might have been probably carried by other famous mages from old… In this Episode at timestamp [10:03] Plowing in the Fall? Without the constant menace of Aura and her troops, we see life moving on again in the fields nearby the city of Granat. A hopeful sight! In this Episode at timestamp [9:29] A new intermediate destination for our journey! Now our journey has a new stopover: Äußesrst! With this scene concludes the arc of Aura, and starts this new arc that will continue until they reach that City of Magic, in Episode 18. Safe travels! In this Episode at timestamp [9:41] Manga vs Anime: special map Here we can see the scale and distance of the journey ahead! A great map showing where Äußerst is, and the location of the Northern Plateau further north. In this Episode at timestamp [11:02] Winter is hereeee!! An awful threat even without any “white walker” around! In this Episode at timestamp [11:20] Why was winter so deadly during the war against the demons? Humans need food and safety, but many villages and towns in the north suffered severe destruction from the monsters. Also, battling in winter is usually harder without enough supplies and shelter. It’s probable that demons used that as an advantage to attack more fiercely in wintertime. After all they can eat their victims and use them as food. This likely caused many human warriors and adventurers to stay hidden or flee in the wild cold lands, which was fatal. In this Episode at timestamp [11:32] Why did Stark was the first to fall victim to the cold? Although he recovered mostly from the wounds Linnie caused him, maybe he has not regained his full strength yet and this blizzard catches him unprepared. Also, this is his first winter traveling with the party, while Fern has already endured several ones away from home —like when she helped clean a beach in wintertime— and might be more used to the snow and wind. Also, sometimes we can see him not dining enough because of somnolence (we’ll notice that in this very episode) and that could lead him to be weaker afterwards… [From this point on, the episode adapts chapter 22 from the Manga: “The Elves’ Wish”] In this Episode at timestamp [11:40] Where and when are we? Over 28 years A.H.D, at the Decke region is nearby the Schwer Mountains, a sierra in the Northern Lands that is on the way to Äußerst. It’s also a place Frieren knows (she has good memory indeed) from his first travel with the party of heroes, over 80 years ago. In this Episode at timestamp [12:00] Obsessed with this ice cream? The “Jumbo Berry Special” we saw in Episode 6 is a now an adulthood trauma for Stark. How has it shrunk so much, from the time he tasted it it with Eisen? In this Episode at timestamp [12:15] We can't fly! Levitating magic makes objects as light as paper, but controlling flying papers in the midst of a snow storm is a risk they cannot afford right now. In this Episode at timestamp [12:67] A cabin in the middle of nowhere? Mountain cabins like that, with a supply of firewood inside, are probably maintained by nearby villagers that use them from the spring on. In this Episode at timestamp [13:30] Why is Fern so ridiculously prudish and calls “perv” almost to anyone involved in anything slightly suggestive? Well, she’s an orphan and had no chance to be educated in what’s proper or not by her parents. Heiter probably did not address those topics much —as a priest they were probably quite taboo— so Fern might have made an opinion from books and her own interpretation of life, based on snippets of experiences and ideas. She was probably cautioned by Heiter to be careful of men and his intensions towards women, which is wise advice… but she has grown excessively wary, hasn’t she? “All men might be pervs” is what is probably dwells on her thoughts. In this Episode at timestamp [13:35] Magic to start a fire… We will see Fern use it again and again, for instance, after the rain falls in EP.21. Quite a handy spell! Kraft could have died of cold without a means to start a fire, as he is not a mage and has no tools for it. Also: the manga explains that he lost his “charcoal” (coal to make fire probably) when he was caught in the blizzard. In this Episode at timestamp [13:59] Elves are a rare sight indeed… Kraft hasn’t seen an elf in 3 centuries, and Frieren in 4!!! (she says so in EP.07). They are rare these days… are they slowly getting extinct? No wonder many people wished these two elves got together to preserve their species. But neither the monk nor the mage elf have their romantic or procreative feelings easily sparkled. In this Episode at timestamp [14:26] The goddess' figurines and symbols. The goddess’s little statues and the hanging symbol of an offering (the circle with ropes) already adorns the chimney’s top. We don’t know if they belong to Kraft of they were already here. (They aren’t shown in the manga, by the way). In this Episode at timestamp [14:40] Why does Kraft already know about Aureole, and says it’s “heaven”? He’s reaaally old. He has lived before Flamme even, and probably has heard from the same sources about the existence of this place. So he believes a place like that must exist. Although he’s not curious enough to go to visit it yet, as he likely thinks he will be there after dying. Sein expresses that kind of thought at the end of EP.13, “to get there, all one needs to do, is die…” But not all long-living people have heard about it, for instance: when hearing about Aureole, the Old Vol dwarf asks Frieren “Where is that?” (EP.16). In this Episode at timestamp [15:34] Great comedic moments with Stark… The moment he wakes up at Kraft’s side and wonders, “who’s this guy?” What TRACK of the OST is played at this point?» The whimsical Track “Across the Northern Lands” accompanies us during the beautiful next moments and montage. In this Episode at timestamp [17:02] What does imply the “And before that…” that Kraft asks? He has seen the world in grave danger before, as he and his unnamed companion saved it, over 1,000 years ago maybe. (His statue in Episode 16 is quite revealing). He knows well, elves can live very long lives (like him), and wants to know the real origins and whole story of Frieren too. In this Episode at timestamp [16:31] Months of training might serve him well… Whenever they go, Stark makes time to train with all the good warriors he meets… Meanwhile, Frieren and her student dedicate most of their time to further study magic. In this Episode at timestamp [17:50] The pious efforts of Kraft to make Frieren more of a believer seem to be working. In this Episode at timestamp [18:45] How old is he really? That “you’re still young” makes us wonder how old is really the elf warrior monk… has he lived several millennia perhaps? WARNING: MILD SPOILER OF SEASON 02 (click to reveal) We'll meet another dangerous demon general in the first "action" arc of season 02. These creatures know how to use a sword… or even more? Fern still keeps Kraft's pendant and cleans it regularly. She appreciates those loving gifts as we will see in EP.01 of the second season. In this Episode at timestamp [20:00] “Tell me about your life and I’ll tell you about mine” It’s a pity Frieren is not in the mood for that. We would love to see a “prequel” on the deeds of this charismatic warrior monk. In this Episode at timestamp [20:18] If they were penniless when they started the journey, where did Heiter earned the money to reconstruct the orphanage? Remember: they raided many dungeons, as we’ll see in EP. 23. Many of them had mimics, but others had treasure. Much of the treasure allowed them to finance their own journey, but some part they “invested” in what we would call charity and helping others. No need to keep that much wealth if you don’t know if you’ll live to kill the Demon King, right? In this Episode at timestamp [20:27] Heiter and Himmel's common past Yes, both they were raised in the same orphanage when they were kids. [SOUNDTRACK] We hear again "Gone but not Forgotten" here. In this Episode at timestamp [21:14] Heiter is getting to know Frieren better too… After probably more than 5 years together, the priest surely figured something was odd about Frieren’s mana. In this Episode at timestamp [21:52] Stark and Fern, together for good and bad… These two are starting to get closer with these kinds of moments, don’t you think? In this Episode at timestamp [22:11] Is she talking about Himmel or Heiter… being in Heaven? This time, she’s very likely referring to the “corrupt priest”, as we saw in the previous flashback. He was also a dear friend to her! In this Episode at timestamp [22:38] Goodbye for now, Kraft! This is not the last time we’ll see Kraft in the show, though. He’ll appear in the statues of unknown heroes (EP.16), at the crossroads near Äußerst (EP.18) and even in a fleeting moment at the end of the credits for the season finale (EP.28). Our THEORY on when Frieren will see Kraft again: we bet it won’t be as long as a century, less than 10 years is our bet. In this Episode at timestamp [22:40] A brief goodbye Ah yes, this “quick goodbye” with Kraft will be mentioned in the last episode of the season. Himmel was always that swift, for not making things too teary-eyed. END of EPISODE'S #11 GUIDE WINTER in the ENDING Among the seasonal images in the ending, if we watch carefully, we can get a glimpse of: • Some snowy mountains (the Schwer mountains probably)• The Icicle Cherry Blossom Tree Wait for the GUIDE of EP12: around JAN 15th 2026.
